Bodrum is located in southwestern Turkey on the Aegean coast. It was built on the ruins of the ancient ancient city of Halicarnass. As early as the 4th century BC, King Mavsol declared Halicarnassus the capital of his state. Now the ruins of a stone mausoleum, which was once one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World, remind of his reign. At the entrance to the bay of the city stands the Bodrum Castle or the medieval castle of St. Peter, which nowadays houses the Museum of Underwater Archeology. The museum contains unique underwater finds of the Mediterranean.
Landing on a gulet starts at 15.30 in the harbor of Bodrum. Guests arriving early can leave their luggage in the office and go to get acquainted with Bodrum. Dinner and overnight in the harbor or in the nearby bay.
After breakfast, the yacht will sail to the island of Kos. Here is Asklepion, known as the birthplace of Hippocrates - the "father" of medical sciences. In ancient times, all the Eastern Mediterranean people who had health problems were treated on this island. Kos is the second largest island of 12 islands (Dodecanese islands). It has a mild climate and very fertile lands. On the island grows a tree, which is 560 years old. And also you can find a fountain, which is 211 years old. The coastline is 290 km. You can swim at Lambi Beach, which is close to the island’s harbor. Kos is one of the islands with an active nightlife. Here is the street Nafkliru, where many bars and holidaymakers. She is always colorful and full of life.
We will go to the beautiful island of Leros. It is a green island, covered with mountains and high cliffs. There are many small bays and villages. After sailing in the Gulf of Herakampos, the yacht will anchor in the harbor of Lakki or in Port of Agia Marina, located in the east. You should visit Platanos - the main city of the island of Leros with its narrow streets, steep steps and flower gardens. You can walk up the stairs leading to Leros Castle (up 300 steps). Rent a bike or take a walk on this island on foot.
Early in the morning we sail to the island of Patmos. We will have a stop for swimming in the bay. Patmos is not a big island, but is one of the most famous. Here is the cave of the Apocalypse. It was here, according to church tradition, that the Apostle John the Theologian received his "Revelation". Therefore, Patmos is sometimes called the Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea. Near the town of Chora is the monastery of St. John. According to mythology, Patmos was a gift from Zeus to the daughter of Artemis, the goddess of hunting and young women. In ancient times, it was worshiped, so the monastery of St. John was built on the site of its temple. After breakfast you can walk around the monasteries. The yacht will stay overnight in the port of Patmos.
In the morning we will go to the island of Lipsi. We will have a stop for swimming near one of the small islands. Lipsi has beautiful sandy beaches such as Platis Gyolos with crystal green waters. The island has a port town with white houses and a beautiful square where you can find numerous taverns, cafes and restaurants. Here you will find many small churches and monasteries. Among the most interesting temples of the island is the church of Panagia Harou (7-8 century AD), which houses the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary.
The yacht will stop in a beautiful bay near the island of Kalymnos. Then we will enter the port of Pothia, which is the capital and main ferry port. For centuries, the islanders were engaged in diving for sponges. There are good beaches here, such as Massouri, Mircea and Vlykhadiya.
Turgutreis - Karanchir - Bodrum
We will return to Turkey via Turgutreis. On the way back to Bodrum, the last stop for sailing to Karanchir will occur. Then the yacht will enter the harbor of Bodrum. Here you will find the final dinner and overnight.
After breakfast at 10.30 you leave the boat. It's time to say goodbye to the crew.
