Sudan fishing: Nubian Reef - our journey begins from Port Sudan and further south aboard the catamaran Scuba Libre. Sudan is the largest country in Africa located in the north-east of the continent.  Here, Sudan has a coastline of the Red Sea, 650 km long and almost uninhabited.  The coastal zone of the Red Sea is full of active marine life and has a huge number of reefs, sometimes stretching many kilometers deep into the open sea. The coast offers a wide range of marine landscapes (such as deep-sea reef, shallow reef, flat, lagoons, mangroves and coral), many sports fishing activities and a wide range of spectrum of fish (GT-giant trevally, coral trout, perch, emperor fish, barracuda, red snapper, Napoleon wrasse, black-finned shark, gray shark, silky shark, amazing population of dog-tooth tuna, blue runner, titan triggerfish, gigantic parrotfish, blue scad and bonefish. Due to the rainy season from July to September, the best time to visit Sudan is October/November and March to June.

\We guarantee you the best equipment for fishing and visit to a wide range of enchanting areas. Only a barbless hook is allowed for safety on board and fish safety. Fishing will take place on the catamaran Scuba Libre which can accommodate up to 12 guests and crew.

The vessel is managed by an Italian crew in Port Sudan, so on board a chef who will cook European and Italian dishes, a wide selection of products are imported from Italy: pasta, pizza, lasagna, chicken, lamb, beef, many kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables, cakes, pancakes, as well as a selection of alcohol and alcoholic cocktails. Possible fishing techniques: 

  • Popping (you can hook GT, red perch, coral trout, all sorts of grouper and emperor fish, big barracuda, Napoleon wrasse, dogtooth tuna and shark.)
  • Jigging (you can catch dog-tooth tuna and much large fish using this most efficient method)
  • Shore and flat fishing (triggerfish, giant humpback parrot fish, GT, different kinds of trevally and barracuda).

 

 

 

 

 

The standard trip includes 6 full days for fishing in Sudan, fishing is every day in different areas. To reduce fishing pressure, we change the zone within a week.

Day 1:

Arrival in Port Sudan at 16:00, transfer on board the catamaran. Start of navigation at night to reach the fishing site.

Days 2- 7:

6 full days of fishing. Return to the port in the evening of the last day.

Day 8:

Breakfast and lunch on board. Transfer to the airport after lunch. Attention! An extended trip is possible, it includes 13 full days of fishing, so you can explore very remote areas. On this trip, you will visit the most pristine waters of Sudan, farther from the shore and closer to the border of Eritrea. During this journey, you will be able to visit the best places for jigging and popping. Please ask the manager about this trip.

Now the best way to get to Port Sudan is to fly en route Dubai with Emirates or another company. From Dubai to Port Sudan there is only one flight every week on Monday, with Fly Dubai departing from Dubai at 13.00 PM. Flight with Emirates allows you to take 30 kg of baggage on your Fly Dubai flight.

  • Health and safety

The coastal side and usually northern Sudan are safe areas for tourism, there is no war or other security problems, the local population is very quiet, and many tourists visit the mainland every year. Also, the sea is completely safe; there are no pirates in this area. For the safety of guests, fishing guides are trained for emergency response. All customers shall have tour/health insurance.
