In Dubai's hot climate, water parks become a real lifesaver. Aquaventure Waterpark, located at Atlantis The Palm hotel, is one of the largest in the world. I tested my courage there on the "Leap of Faith" slide, where you are practically thrown vertically down through a transparent tube, passing through a shark pool. Wild Wadi Waterpark, located next to Burj Al Arab, offers themed attractions based on Arabian tales. I especially enjoyed "Jumeirah Sceirah" - a 33-meter high slide where you rush at speeds up to 80 km/h. For families with young children, Laguna Waterpark in La Mer offers more relaxed entertainment, including a lazy river and beach areas.

If you are tired of the gloss and glitter, visit the historic district of Al Fahidi, where narrow streets and traditional coral stone houses take you back in time. Go to question pageWhen you first see the glittering skyscrapers of Dubai, it's hard to imagine that less than a century ago there were only sand dunes and fishing boats bobbing on the waves of the Persian Gulf. The history of Dubai begins at the beginning of the XVIII century, when the Bani Yas clan founded a small settlement near the Dubai Creek. This narrow bay has become a vital artery for trade and fishing. In 1833, the Al Maktoum clan peacefully seized power, and since then Dubai has been ruled by this dynasty. But the real turning point came in the middle of the 20th century with the discovery of oil. Instead of relying solely on oil revenues, wise rulers invested in infrastructure, trade and tourism, turning Dubai into a global hub in a few decades.
