Secrets of life on a yacht: a trip from Italy to France
Life on board
We are on board our yacht in Italy, enjoying the romantic atmosphere, cooking and working remotely. Over the past month, we have explored the picturesque seaside towns of Europe, living on the Mediterranean Sea. However, bad weather conditions are ahead of us, and in this issue we will try to avoid them by sailing from Sardinia towards France.
Preparing for the trip
The weather is going to be severe, and we decided that we need to act quickly. We are preparing to sail on Jeanneau Yachts 55, planning a journey that will take about 36 hours. The wind is picking up and we hope to be able to reach our destination while avoiding bad weather.
Departure from Sardinia
We are leaving Sardinia today. We have a good opportunity, and we decided to use this moment to start our journey. If we had waited longer, we would have had to face winds of 4 meters per second and move against the wind. So now is the time to go!
Route planning
We use PredictWind to predict our path through Corsica towards France. At the moment, the wind should range from 8 to 15 knots, which is ideal for our trip.
Travel by sea
Everything is fine on board the yacht, we are moving at a speed of 7.4 knots. The crew is a little tired, but we are all full of enthusiasm. We cook pasta for lunch to keep up our strength and enjoy the atmosphere.
Marinas Search
We left Sardinia without booking a marina in France in advance, which worries us a little. We tried contacting several marinas in the region, but most of them were full. However, we hope that we can find a place to dock upon arrival.
Problems on the way
As we approach the French coast, the weather worsens. We are receiving warnings about strong winds and are considering various scenarios in case we fail to find a place to moor.
Night crossing
At night, John stays at the helm, trying to steer the yacht as efficiently as possible. He is an experienced sailor, and we fully trust him. I’m preparing for the next day, hoping that we can find a safe place to moor when we get to shore.
Arrival in France
In the morning we see the earth and realize that we are approaching Mentoni. However, we do not have a reserved place for the night. We decide to try to dock at the nearest fuel dock to wait out the strong winds.
Taking care of the yacht
John continues to take care of the yacht, cleaning the windows of dirt and salt to ensure good visibility upon arrival. We are ready to dock and hope that everything will go smoothly.
First impressions of Mentoni
We are here and we are glad that we were able to get to France. Now new adventures await us, and we look forward to exploring Mentoni and other cities on the Cote d’Azur.
Conclusion
This journey has been a real challenge for us, full of excitement and unexpected twists. We have learned to appreciate every minute spent on board and are ready for new adventures in France. Follow our next releases to see what lies ahead!
