What is Palm Jumeirah and how was it built?
Palm Jumeirah is an artificial island shaped like a palm tree, one of the most ambitious engineering projects in the world. Construction began in 2001 and required about 94 million cubic meters of sand and 7 million tons of rock. I strolled along the “trunk” of the palm, where hotels, restaurants, and residential complexes are located, and couldn’t stop being amazed by the scale of the project. The “leaves” of the palm are luxurious villas with private beaches. The crown houses Atlantis The Palm hotel, a symbol of luxury and hospitality. After climbing The View at The Palm, an observation deck at a height of 240 meters, I was able to appreciate the grandeur of this structure and enjoy the panorama of Dubai and the Persian Gulf. The creation of Palm Jumeirah has shown the world that nothing is impossible for Dubai.

Go to question pageYachts often prefer to go barefoot for several reasons: Safety and deck protection Avoiding damage: The soles of the shoes can damage the wooden or composite decks of yachts, leaving scratches and dents. This is especially true for yachts with a teak deck, which requires careful maintenance. Cleanliness: Shoes can bring dirt, sand and pebbles on board, which can not only spoil the appearance, but also create potential dangers for people on board. Convenience and comfort Grip: The deck of a yacht is often wet and slippery, especially when moving. Bare feet provide better grip on the surface, which helps prevent falls and injuries. Tactile sensations: Walking barefoot allows you to feel the deck surface better, which can be especially important when moving on uneven or wet surfaces. Maritime traditions Yachting traditions: There are well-established traditions and norms of behavior in the yachting world, one of which is walking barefoot on board. This is respect for the ship and its owner, as well as for other passengers. Aesthetics: Walking barefoot is often associated with a certain aesthetic and lifestyle characteristic of a yacht vacation. These reasons together make barefoot sailing a practical and reasonable choice, contributing to the safety, cleanliness and comfort of all on board.
Go to question pageRamadan is a sacred month for Muslims, characterized by fasting and spiritual renewal. In Dubai, this is a special time when the life of the city takes on new hues. After sunset, the streets come alive: iftar tents open, serving traditional dishes, and people gather for a communal meal. I visited Suhoor - a late dinner before dawn - and felt the atmosphere of unity and hospitality. Many shopping centers and stores stay open late, offering special discounts. Cultural events, such as Quran readings and charity actions, become an important part of city life during this period.
Go to question pageIn Dubai, the UAE Dirham (AED) is used. The exchange rate is usually stable against the US dollar: 1 dollar ≈ 3.67 dirhams. You can exchange currency at the airport, banks, exchange offices and shopping malls. I have noticed that exchange rates in the city are often more profitable than at the airport or hotels. ATMs are ubiquitous, and you can withdraw cash from international cards, but pay attention to the possible fees of your bank. Many places accept credit cards, but it is always useful to have some cash with you for small expenses, especially in markets or small cafes.
