What is Ski Dubai and where is it located?
Ski Dubai is a real winter resort in the heart of the desert, located inside the Mall of the Emirates. Imagine this: the scorching sun and 40°C outside, and you’re standing at the top of a snowy slope, ready to ski or snowboard down. I couldn’t miss the opportunity to experience this marvel of engineering. The complex maintains a constant temperature of around -4°C. I rented all the necessary equipment and went to explore five different slopes, including the longest one at 400 meters. It was a special treat to interact with real penguins in a specially equipped area. After skiing, I warmed up with hot chocolate in an alpine cafe, watching other skiers through panoramic windows.

Go to question pageDespite rapid development, Dubai preserves its cultural roots through traditional crafts. In the Deira market, I watched craftsmen create exquisite silver jewelry and copperware. Pottery is also popular, and in some workshops, you can see how beautiful vessels and decorative elements are born from clay. I was particularly impressed by the art of calligraphy: Arabic letters transform into works of art, decorating homes and public places. Weaving and rug making are another traditional craft, using intricate patterns and natural materials. In Al Fahidi, a historic district, I visited the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, where you can not only see these crafts but also try your hand at them under the guidance of local masters.

Go to question pageDubai International Airport is one of the busiest in the world, but it is well organized. After landing, I decided to take the metro, which connects the airport directly to key areas of the city. It’s a quick and inexpensive way to reach the center. The trains are clean, air-conditioned, and have space for luggage. An alternative is taxis, which are available 24/7. Official taxis are cream-colored and equipped with meters; the ride to the center takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. For added comfort, you can arrange a transfer through your hotel or use services like Uber and Careem. I chose the metro and was pleasantly surprised by the convenience and efficiency of this mode of transport.

Go to question pageDubai offers many opportunities for learning Arabic. I signed up for courses at Eton Institute, where classes are held in small groups with experienced teachers. The program was flexible, which is convenient for tourists and busy people. Other language centers, such as the Arabic Language Centre and Berlitz, also offer various levels of instruction — from beginner to advanced. Learning the language helped me better understand the culture and communicate with locals, enriching my experience in Dubai.
Go to question pageIn Dubai, sports are not just a way to stay fit, but also a part of the culture. Football is adored here, and you'll often see groups of young people playing on makeshift fields or watching matches in cafes. However, camel racing is considered the most traditional sport. I visited one such race at the Al Marmoom racecourse, and it was a thrilling spectacle: camels, steered by robot jockeys, racing across the sandy track to the cheers of the audience. Falconry is another ancient pastime still practiced today. I visited the Dubai Falconry Academy, where I learned about the intricacies of training these majestic birds and even got to hold a falcon on my arm. In addition, water sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, and diving are very popular thanks to the abundance of beaches and warm water.
