Yacht Rental – What is yacht rental

Yacht rental is the use of a yacht for personal or commercial purposes for a limited period of time for a fee. Simply put, you temporarily gain access to a yacht to travel, relax, hold events, or simply experience freedom on the water.

First of all, renting a yacht is an opportunity to experience the world of sea adventures and luxury without having to buy your own vessel. This is a chance to feel like a captain, an explorer, a romantic — even if only for a few days.

From a legal point of view, renting a yacht is a temporary use of property that can be owned by a private individual or owned by a charter company. In most countries, such a transaction is regulated by the civil code and requires the signing of a lease agreement (charter agreement), especially when it comes to long-term or international routes.
However, there is much more to this simple definition.

Renting a yacht is a responsibility. Responsibility for the safety of expensive property, and most importantly — for the safety of people on board. That is why each tenant is obliged to strictly observe the precautions and follow the recommendations described in the section “Safety on the water”. In many cases, liability can be insured: there are special insurance policies in case of damage to the yacht or accidents during the rental.

On the other hand, for a yacht owner, renting is not only a source of income, but also a high degree of responsibility. The vessel must be thoroughly prepared before each lease.:

• Checking the technical serviceability of all systems and units.
• Monitoring the availability and relevance of rescue equipment.
• Provision of clean bed linen, towels and a basic set of household supplies.
  Updating of nautical charts, travel logs and navigation systems.
• Sometimes — the organization of the crew, if the yacht is surrendered with the captain and crew.

It is important to remember: the tenant is a guest on board. Very often, yachts for rent belong to people who are in love with the sea, just like you. And respect for the yacht, its history, and the hard work put into its upkeep is part of a true maritime culture.
